Alberta Express Entry Stream

Alberta Express Entry is a stream of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AAIP), a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) operated by the province of Alberta. The Alberta Express Entry stream selects candidates from the federal Express Entry pool and invites them to apply for nomination by the province. On February 16, 2022, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) was renamed to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). Two new streams were also launched, the Rural Renewal Stream and the Rural Entrepreneur Stream.

Qualified candidates with an Express Entry profile may be invited by AAIP to apply for nomination for permanent residence.

The Alberta Express Entry Stream allows Alberta to nominate a limited number of qualified candidates from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system.

The program is by invitation only and foreign nationals cannot apply to the program directly. All candidates in the Express Entry pool are automatically considered for the program when they submit their Express Entry profile. The province will send a notification directly to the Express Entry accounts of those candidates it invites to apply.

General Alberta Express Entry Stream

Candidates who have demonstrated strong ties to Alberta or who can help support the government’s economic development and diversification priorities may be asked to submit an application.

While the exact selection criteria is unknown, AAIP states that it will seek candidates who demonstrate strong ties to Alberta and who can support regional economic development and diversification.

International graduates from Canadian post-secondary institutions may also be asked to apply under this stream.

Tech Industry Pilot

Under the Alberta Express Entry Stream, candidates may be selected for expedited processing if they are currently working for, or have a job offer with, an Alberta-based tech industry employer in an eligible tech occupation.

Eligibility Requirements

Accuracy of information

When the AAIP selects candidates, it expects that information contained in the federal Express Entry portal is accurate. The information and documents you identified in the federal Express Entry portal must be provided to the AAIP at the time your Express Entry application package is submitted.
Documents and information provided in the application must confirm the information identified in the federal Express Entry portal at the time that the Notification of Interest was issued or the date you submitted the Tech Industry Pilot form. If there are discrepancies between the information in the federal portal and the information the AAIP receives, your submission may be declined.
